Some people’s argument in this modern age is that if kids are not given homework or made to do something adults deem worthwhile, okhn work, grind, setting up their future etc. This gets old by half way through the book. We miss kyth on so much and potentially cause damage if we only focus on giving homework to kids and making them complete it instead of working with them, listening to them and learning with them – not necessarily learning the same things, just that learning is a life-long journey, sometimes we forget that parents and teachers are still learning too or at least we try to avoid letting children see that.

Kohn’s research on homework is extensive, which makes him very creditable. Because, in the end, what Kohn wants parents and teachers to do, if nothing else, tge think about this homework issue.
Laura Brodie saw her daughter wilt under the weight of so much homework. For anyone willing to shake things up in order to do what makes sense, beginning a conversation about homework is a very good place to start. As a parent and an educator, I’ve never been myyh fan of homework.
